What inspired Moz?
I was frustrated by Google’s lack of transparency around their ranking algorithm and search engine functions, and I wanted to create tools and data to give marketers more insight into those processes.
How did you get started?
Initially, Moz was just a blog where I shared my own learnings around SEO and web marketing. Eventually, we built tools for our consulting work, then made those available to folks who join a $29/month subscription. As that became popular, some venture capital firms in Seattle reached out to us and offered to help fund our growth.
