What inspired Story?
In 2013, one of my companies started providing IT services again. We decided to use a google spreadsheet to keep track on what was being done. It worked ok but I wanted to improve the way the information was displayed. I checked existing solutions and came to the conclusion that most CRM softwares were focusing on sales and very little on the operational part of the relationship.
How did you get started?
I started working on the concept in a design app (Sketch). Creating a design to show and explain my idea to people. Then I stopped working on it because I had other priorities. In July 2014, I decided to start working on it again. Created new designs and started coding a prototype. I showed the product as I was building it and got positive feedback that helped me stay on track. But in December, with a prototype almost production ready, I decided to put the project on hold again because I thought it would be too much work to operate an SaaS all by myself considering everything I already had on my plate. A few months later, Jacob (my partner on Story) offered to join the project. We recoded almost everything from the ground up, keeping the core concepts but making the whole product better.
